Senior Director, Business Development

TeraPore Technologies is a fast-growing bioseparations company that is commercializing transformative products for the bioprocess industry. Our world-leading scientists are pioneering a set of next-generation nanomaterials and processes, which overcome challenges in upstream and downstream biomanufacturing. As our R&D portfolio expands and opportunities for external innovation partnerships continue to grow, we are looking to add an experienced business development professional to our leadership team.

The successful candidate will play a leading role in bringing our innovative products to market, through the creation and management of key commercial partnerships and business development activities. The candidate will generate new business opportunities and partnerships, manage existing relationships, and provide support for the company’s business transactions. In addition, the candidate must work well in a fast-paced environment and work collaboratively with in-house scientists, senior management, and external partners to drive and achieve TeraPore’s overall business objectives.

Detailed Responsibilities – Business Development and Partnership Management:

  • Identify, evaluate, and champion new business opportunities and partnerships to drive TeraPore’s leading edge separations solutions into the biotechnology industry
  • Source and investigate strategic partnership opportunities with industrial and academic institutions, review and provide input on business and technical merits of programs, participate in negotiation of business arrangements, engage executive leadership, and drive to decisions
  • Work collaboratively with TeraPore’s R&D team, coordinate activities between the company and third parties, and promote TeraPore’s bioprocess solutions externally
  • Assess competitor activities around bioseparations technologies and provide analytical review and context to TeraPore’s executive leadership team
  • Oversee the development of technical market materials and other external documents for business outreach


  • 8-10 years of relevant experience, with a focus on business development, marketing, or sales in the bioprocess industry, including experience with introducing new separation and purification technologies, materials, and solutions to partners and customers
  • Advanced degree in a biochemistry, bio/chemical engineering, or related discipline; a business degree also preferred
  • Experience in new technology commercialization, with strong project management and facilitation skills
  • Firsthand experience in bioseparations, purification, and/or chromatography preferred
  • Track record structuring and negotiating JDAs and other commercial partnership arrangements
  • Ability to clearly and effectively present information formally and informally, as well as influence behaviors and outcomes at all levels
  • Proven strength in engaging diverse interests and fostering strategic consideration of alternatives to enable informed decision-making
  • Proven credibility in collaboration and relationship management by demonstration of high level strategic thinking and business acumen with a strong technical foundation
  • An established network of contacts among major bioprocess and biopharma companies
